  • Data Release Policy

    The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) endeavors to make a wide range of workforce information and reports readily available to the public. This document outlines OPM policy governing the release of information concerning Federal civilian employees. The policy is consistent with 5 C.F.R. part 293, OPM's regulation concerning Personnel Records. OPM continues to comply with the Freedom of Information Act and the Privacy Act when releasing information.

  • Data, Analysis & Documentation

    OPM conducts analyses and develops reports that allow for the assessment of trends and workforce issues that affect OPM and other Federal agencies. OPM issues governmentwide guidance on documentation of Federal employment. In addition, OPM issues guidance on reporting human resources, payroll and training data which are based on instructions of governmentwide data element standardization and system edits. OPM also serves as the focal point for providing statistical information about the Federal civilian workforce to government agencies, researchers, the media, and the general public.

  • Responsible Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence for the Federal Workforce

    Per section 10.2(f)(iii) of the Executive Order on the Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence, the Director of the OPM, in coordination with the Director of OMB, has developed the following guidance on the use of generative AI for work by the Federal workforce.
